BBC Make A Musical
The school bully and his victim find themselves lost in a fantasy world. Bemused and scared, the travellers are calmed by the spirit who will take them on a journey to help them understand anger, fear and loneliness.
First TV Musical for children with Special Educational Needs
Working with fellow composer Rebecca Applin, Chris Warner created the orchestrations for the Children's BAFTA nominated BBC Make a Musical programme. This truly original production was developed and performed by groups of pupils with special educational needs. Chris also played keyboards in the studio recordings for the show, and worked closely with the sound department during the shoot.
Opening Sequence - "School Photograph"
The musical was written and produced to provide SEN teachers with the template for an accessible, inclusive, mixed-genre musical. The production has the ingredients of mainstream musical theatre while at the same time being manageable for pupils with special educational needs.
"Journey to the Scary Place"
This project was designed to be developed and produced in schools as an extra-curricular activity. Over the course of a school term the activities involved in producing the musical present a range of challenges to develop pupils' ability to grasp key concepts in a variety of subject areas - particularly Music, Drama, PSE and Design & Technology. It provides an opportunity across year groups for cross-curricular, inter-disciplinary learning.
